mystery google - the new post secret?
thanks to my little bro, i have been mildly distracted from my thesis work this evening. after i went on raving about the tiny mountain of hilarity to be had at auto complete me, he asked if i'd heard of mystery google, which i had not. which means you may not have either. so what is it?
i have devised this simple equation to answers that very question:
mystery google = post secret + twitter
you put in some search terms, hit the familiar google search button and the results are a mystery. what they actually are though, are the results to the query made by the person who searched just before you.
unexpected search results are abundant, and some of them are as charming as can be. for example, i searched "this is better than twitter" and my search results yeilded those appropriate to the query: "i'm in love for the first time and i'm 44". ^___^
little bro was telling me that a popular game to play is giving out missions, such as texting people silly messages or emailing people. it's a brilliant way to stay anonymous--getting someone else to send the message for you. it's also a lovely way to make someone smile or share a deep little secret.
more exploring necessary. but i really must get back to my thesis now.

Project Three Six Five - Day 1
every day of this, my 26th year, i will take a picture and post it here along with a few lines of original poetry. well, that is if everything goes according to plan.
here's a picture from a few days ago (cheating already, i know) from my birthday celebration. pictured on the left is Kristen, on the right, Cat. guess what sort of cupcakes they're eating from the poem ^_________^
peanut butter lover
loves girls with bold smiles
and legs that reach the floor.

monday moves
there are three hundred
and sixty degrees to view from
but she only sees me
in black and white
between sheets and in the kitchen
her nature is my crutch -
i miss her
on monday morning board meetings
over styrofoam cups of cheap coffee
the daily figure - monday moves

kissing therapy
for all the men she ever
i exposed him to american institutions
and peanut butter and fluff sandwiches
but even then i could not refuse
his gesture of province and gentleman's swagger
to make up for the misplaced sugar cubes
in his cafe con leche - my obvious act of betrayal
we engage in the act of love poetry
and stencil drawings of birds eating road kill
he calls it committing crimes of passion
i call it therapeutic, but then, i'm the obvious one

nordic trapper
trapped in an Icelandic cafe
with nothing but vanilla beans
and shapely women in grey dresses
and hard-toed suede boots
drawing on the scents of ritual
and Nordic explorers
who left their genetic mark
visible by the blond barista
behind the chest-high counter
where you ordered your fifth petite four
and another round of lattes
for the Austrian students
who missed their connection to Vancouver

good november, my dear
woken up to the inspiration
of six remaining Macintosh apples
from the party he threw last night
their skin loose, begging to be peeled
and the flour at the ready
for sifting and mixing
the tingle and swift smell of all spice
nutmeg and cinnamon tangled
between soft slices of baked apple
filling the house with
wooden spoon spun wonder
on the first morning of a favorable month
good morning, November,
good day October, thank you for the treats
for the spices and wild turkey parades
of six remaining Macintosh apples
from the party he threw last night
their skin loose, begging to be peeled
and the flour at the ready
for sifting and mixing
