Thanks Katy, People don't realize that every other poet laureate in the world is a political appointee, appointed by other political appointees. THe Poet Laureate Of The Blogosphere is the world's first ELECTED laureate-- a man or woman elected by and of the people. Politicians can't influence the outcome, publishers can't lobby for their guy, and no amount of money will over ride the people's choice. To me, that seems like reason enough to get involved.
