a new rules of lemons

micro-plane little curls of
yellow peel, sweet with bitterness

down to the white, then slice
in half, ready to squeeze

in a vice designed specifically
for yellow fruit, the size of a lemon

the juices bursting out everywhere
in tiny droplets, pulp pushing out

of the little holes in the vice until
the scent of lemon rules the room.
