azure letters

for Ashraf Osman

i will not have a grave stone
because by the time i die,
they'll have thought of something better.

i wish you could say the same,
but it's becoming clearer each day
that you are already dying.

one poet's wish after another
for peace and skies clear of white
from the dust of dead neighbors

goes swiftly unheard by all
but the well-groomed dog at your feet
and i, who can't possibly understand

the significance of real warfare.

Eunice, my favorite cupcake creator ^_^ the context is complex, but suffice it to say, my friend ashraf has a lovely dog named Foxy who is always fluffy and beautiful and well looked after. the linked poem also helps explain some of the poem's meaning. as well as the fact that anyone who knows ashraf at all, knows that he cares far more than his heart can handle at times and i try to help him by feeding his heart words that help it hold more. sort of like an over-flow tank made of letters and punctuation marks.

thank you for reading my work ^_^ it means a lot.
