(for kate)
i.
i found you at the top
of the lighthouse tower
peeling back the skin
of an aging scar
where a wart used to rest
on the point of your elbow
ii.
i offered you a seed
from my pomegranate
and you offered me
a back massage
you commented after:
my hands smell like cherry
iii.
the day before halloween,
this year, is a monday
let's take the day off together
to get wasted on grenadine and soda

Oooh, kawayeen! (What's that Japanese word you use?)
I know that's a lame comment (and I don't mean to denigrate such a lovely poem), but sometimes only sounds convey the point. The tastes, the smells, the colors, and the rough skin of the scab on the elbow... I love it!
kawaiine is the sound you're looking for i think, dear.
and thank you, it was anything but a lame comment.
